FFA & Bootcamp Awards Banquet – Feb 28!

January 12, 2010

The Freestyle Fighting Academy and Women-Only Fitness Bootcamp are very excited to invite everbody to our EIGHT year anniversary celebration & Awards Banquet! The FFA Awards Banquet is a yearly tradition and this one also marks our eight year anniversary! This is a HUGE milestone in our gym’s history!

Previously, we only allowed current students to take part in the annual banquet… but this time we are extending invitations to everyone! If you aren’t a student, this is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek into one of our most proud traditions. For non-students, if you are interested in joining our gym, it is a great way to see what sort of program you will be getting involved in – trust me, this is the most elegant and prestigious awards ceremony in the martial arts world!

And if you are a student, you should consider this a mandatory event – this is by far the most important event we have all year! If you haven’t been to one before, ask a couple of veterans about this event, you really can’t miss out on this! You will leave the event with renewed motivation, more pride about your team, and with a full stomach :)

The banquet is being held on Sunday, February 28, at the exquisite Signature Gardens in Miami. We have two seperate banquets, one for the members of our Adult Martial Arts & Women’s Bootcamp and a seperate banquet for members of our Kids/Teen Program.  The Adult Martial Arts & Women’s Bootcamp Banquet will start at 6:00pm and the Kids/Teens Banquet will start at 12pm. The address of the Signature Gardens is 12725 SW 122 Avenue, Miami, FL. The Signature Gardens is known for hosting some of the most elegant social occasions.

The event is a formal event, so we ask all men to come in suit & tie and women with formal dress.

The banquet is special because it is the only time during the year that we hand out the promotions for our students.  On top of the promotions, we also present special awards like the most dedicated, most improved, best fight, rookie of the year, M.V.P., etc.  We also have a projector and show a power point presentation which goes over the history our gym, what we have accomplished in 2009, and our goals for 2010.  2009 was a special year with many great victories for the team.  Also the Women Only Bootcamp program will also be handing out awards and presenting surprises as well!  Ms. Lorraine and Mrs. Rima will be giving speeches and recognizing some of the great accomplishments of the program this past year.

Then at the end of the banquet, after some speeches from students and instructors, we display on the projector a highlight reel from all the fights and competitions of the year.  For Bootcamp, we have a cool training montage – with competition footage of our ladies competing in fitness competitions!  The martial arts and women-only bootcamp will share the same banquet.

And on top of all the ceremony and speeches, we will also be served a FANTASTIC full course meal by the chefs of the Signature Gardens and we’ll have a bar as well for the adults.

This event is a non-profit event. The fee to attend covers your plate and rental of the hall. The fee to attend is $29 for each adult and $20 for each child. Feel free to bring any friends or family.

The deadline to register for the event is February 7… afterward there will be a $10 penalty per seat for booking late.

To make your reservations, please send an email to Info@FFAgyms.com with your full name and phone number so that one of our staff can call you back and reserve your spot. Thank you very much and we hope to see you there!

The FFA Fight Team Celebrating the End of the 2007 Season

The FFA Fight Team has its own practices twice a day, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and from 8:30pm to 10:30pm – as well as unlimited training throughout our other CAP classes.  As part of the Fight Team, you would be training with the rest of the FFA team… which went undefeated in 2006 and scored 20 wins (18 of the wins ending by KO or Sub) in 2007 – with only 4 fighters losing!  The team’s All-Time Record in MMA is 63-24… with it’s All-Time Kickboxing/Boxing record being 41-7… giving the OVERALL TEAM RECORD between the two combat sports being 105-31… that is a 78% win ratio!  We have had fighters fight on TV in shows like BodogFight, EliteXC, WEC, The Ultimate Fighter, and the UFC.

Along with the training, as part of the team, we would set you up with a full-time professional fight manager, who would be setting you up with fights and sponsorship.

To be eligible for the Try-Outs, you must be at least a blue belt and must be willing to train at least five times a week.  If you are not a blue belt, you must be at least in the CAP program and have special permission from your instructor.

If you meet the requirements and want to participate, you must send an email with your full name and phone number to Info@FFAgyms.com .  All requests must be sent in before January 5.  If you have any questions, feel free to send an email.

For those that are going, make sure to bring running shoes and full sparring gear.  If you do not come with those, you will be disqualified from the try-outs right away.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

The Votes are in… FFA is opening a NEW class!

January 23, 2008

We recently emailed everyone on our list and asked for everyone to vote on a time for a new class… and the votes were 90% for the same time… which is 4:00PM! :)

So on February 5th, we are opening up a NEW Introduction section on Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00pm to 5:15pm.  In three months, we will open up BBC sections on the other days.  If you are a current BBC member and would prefer to come to the 4:00pm class, speak with one of our program directors and it won’t be a problem.  For now BBC members can share the class with the Intro students and once the class picks up we will have a seperate BBC section.

If you are a current student and would like to switch, please let us know.

The Banquet is coming up this Sunday!

January 21, 2008

FFA is very excited to invite everbody to our SIX year anniversary celebration & Awards Banquet! The FFA Awards Banquet is a yearly tradition and this one also marks our six year anniversary!

The banquet is being held on Sunday, January 27, at 6:00pm at the exquisite Signature Gardens in Miami. The address is 12725 SW 122 Avenue, Miami, FL.

We also have a projector and show a power point presentation which goes over the history our gym, what we have accomplished in 2007, and our goals for 2008. 2007 was a special year because it is the first time our pro team MMA team had secured 20 wins in one year! And of the 20 wins, 18 of them were by KO, TKO, or Submission!  On top of the martial arts, the Women Only Bootcamp program will also be handing out awards and presenting surprises as well!

Then at the end of the banquet, after some speeches from students and instructors, we display on the projector a highlight reel from all the fights and competitions of the year. This year, we are hiring a DJ and ending the night with dancing! In past years, we couldn’t do this because of time constraints but we have solved that by separating the kids’ awards and giving them their own separate banquet! So the martial arts and women-only bootcamp will share the same banquet.

And on top of all the ceremony and speeches, we will also be served a FANTASTIC full course meal by the chefs of the Signature Gardens.

This event is a non-profit event. The fee to attend covers your plate and rental of the hall. The fee to attend is $28 for each adult and $20 for each child. Feel free to bring any friends or family.

Originally, we had a deadline of January 20… but we went ahead and purchased an extra 15 tickets so that we could sell them to anyone who may have not heard of the event or are simply procrastinators :)

To make your reservations, please email me at info@ffamiami.com with your full name and phone number so that one of our staff can call you back and reserve your spot. Thank you very much and we hope to see you there!

Hello FFA!

January 16, 2008

Hello FFA students and friends!  This is Marcos Avellan and here is our new team website!  I know that in the past our team website was very outdated and… well… sucked :)  But now we have this new format, an easy to update and clean looking blog.  With this blog, we plan on keeping all of our students and friends updated on fight results, upcoming get togethers and events, and news about FFA.

I am going to need about a day or two to finish setting up this page and updating all the links, but this time it will be done :)

If you bumped into this website by accident and are interested in checking out FFA, visit www.BestFreeTrial.com to learn more about joining FFA and our 30 Day FREE Trial!

Sincerely,
Marcos Avellan
