FFA HAS RECORD COMPETITION MONTH!

July 2, 2010

First of all, we have been on a TEAR this month! As the video above shows, FFA’s Joe Ray has won a huge fight in Singapore by KO versus a BJJ Black Belt World Champion! This was a big fight and Joe has improved his pro MMA record to 3-0 (keep in mind he has a kickboxing record of 12-1). He is still in Thailand training kickboxing and will be back in August… feel free to give him a congrats on www.FFAspace.com (his screen name is JoeRay with no space in between).

In the same week, we also had Coach Cesar Serje, Coach Edir Terry, Robert Rodriguez, and Hektor Urbano fighting as well… AND ALL FOUR MEN WON!

Let’s start with Cesar and Edir… both men were making their professional MMA debuts and fought in the MFA show in Miami. Cesar Serje was up first and got into a WAR of a fight! Him and his opponent exchanged blows and ended up with a bloody fight, with Cesar suffering a big cut and his opponent suffering a broken nose. Cesar kept the fight standing, utilizing excellent head movement and accurate right hands. He also took the fight to the ground when needed and won a decisive unanimous decision after a grueling three round fight! BIG CONGRATULATIONS to FFA Davie’s Coach Cesar! Hit him up at www.FFAspace.com!

In the same card, Coach Edir Terry fought… winning via a SHOCKING one punch KO within 12 seconds of the fight! Edir stepped into his opponent with a power JAB which landed flush and knocked his opponent out! Very impressive victory for Edir, showing off his KO power with either hand at 145 pounds. CONGRATS!

Then the following night big Robert Rodriguez fought in New Jersey in the M1 MMA card! Robbie was fighting an experienced wrestler and kept the fight standing… then in the third round Robbie scored a takedown and secured a half-guard crucifix pin and earned the TKO! Robbie improves his pro MMA record to a perfect 3-0! Keep in mind Robbie also had a perfect amateur record as well! Expect big things from Robert Rodriguez!

Then last night we had Hektor Urbano fighting kickboxing in Lakeland! Hektor was VERY impressive in his fight, taking on an experienced and tough opponent… but cutting him down with exceptional knees from the clinch and precise punches… out-hustling his opponent and winning the unanimous decision! Hektor is now 3-0 in kickboxing!

Speaking of kickboxing… while I was in Cuba training boxing, we had three fighters fight kickboxing and they didn’t get their credit via email… so here it is! Three weeks ago we had Christian Larose, Kevin Rapalo, and Hektor Urbano making their amateur kickboxing debuts in a tournament! Chris fought a war of a fight! He started up slow but then came roaring back in the later rounds. Many thought Chris won but the judges ended up giving it to his opponent – Chris put up an awesome effort for his first fight! Then Kevin Rapalo came out and finished 2nd place! He defeated his first opponent and lost his second fight by decision. Kevin impressed with his heart as he came out pushing an aggressive pace and leaving nothing behind! And finally was Hektor, he won 1st place defeating both of his opponents with technical kickboxing – starting off his career with a bang! Big congrats as well to Chris, Kevin, and Hektor!

Then to wrap things up… we also had the NAGA Grappling Tournament! NAGA (North American Grappling Association) is the largest grappling circuit in the world… and they recently held an event in Florida and FFA represented! The following adults, teens, and kids placed:

Devin Genchi – Intermediate Heavyweight – 2nd Place
Troy Gray – Intermediate Middleweight – 1st Place
Danny Szymanski – Novice Light Heavyweight – 2nd Place
Dennis Waters – Novice Lightweight – 3rd Place
Cesar Jordan – Intermediate Lightweight – 3rd Place
Ricardo San Jorge – Novice Cruiserweight – 3rd Place
Joseph Rosado – Novice Heavyweight – 2nd Place
Chelsea Mateu – scored FIVE MEDALS in five different divisions!
Antonio Hernandez – Beginner Flyweight – 3rd Place
William Gonzalez – Beginner Lightweight – 2nd Place
Miguel Baeza – Advanced Middleweight – 1st Place
Ernie Sato – Beginner Heavyweight – 3rd Place

Troy Gray winning 1st Place!

Congrats to all the NAGA competitors! Everyone that went out to compete earned my respect and the rest of all their instructors… you guys and girls are awesome. It took a lot of courage to get out there… and win or lose, you have a lot to be proud of… and you also gained a priceless experience that will only make you better.

All in all, so far this year has been the BEST year of our competition team! This month alone our MMA & kickboxing team went 8-3! Not only is that an impressive busy schedule (eleven fights plus NAGA)… but a great record as well! Congrats to all the fighters and to all their teammates as well!

Remember, all these fighters are on www.FFAspace.com , so feel free to give them encouragement and congratulate them on the website!
