Costa Rica Fight Results…
October 14, 2008We got good news and bad news… The bad news is we had three fights get cancelled! Coach Efrain’s fight was cancelled because his opponent got MRSA and could not fight. Coach Pablo’s fight was cancelled because his opponent did not show (lame!). Coach David’s big fight in the WEC was cancelled because of the threat of Hurricane Ike! The event has been postponed to November 5th in the same venue versus the same opponent.
Now for the good news… we had two guys fight! We had Shah “Showstoppa” Bobonis and Mike “The White Crane” Bernhard! Both gentlemen were fighting in the CR Fights card in Costa Rica. Along with Pablo’s opponent not showing – Shah’s original opponent did not show either. So, in the last second, he accepted a fight with a much heavier Villalobos, who is also more experienced. The fight was a war! Shah landed great strikes and was dominant in the stand-up exchanges – splitting Villalobos chin with a well timed uppercut. However, Villalobos was dominating with the takedowns and in the second round was able to submit Shah from the mount. It was a tough fight for Shah but he will only gain from this experience. His current pro record is now 4-2.
Next up was big Mike Bernhard – and WOW he had a great performance! He came out and landed several huge strikes and followed up with a monster slam! Then on the ground, he proceeded to land thundering strikes, securing the TKO in under 90 seconds of the first round! Big victory for Mike, as he improves his pro record to 4-2.
So props to both gentlemen for representing the FFA to its fullest!
