FFA is BUSY next month! 8 Fighters fighting in Sept!
August 26, 2008Hello, this is Coach Marcos with the Freestyle Fighting Academy. I’m writing with big news! FFA has EIGHT men fighting in September!
We have Coach David Avellan fighting in the WEC coming up on Sept 10 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida! The casino is about 20 minutes from our Miami location! If you can’t attend, you can catch the show live on TV. Tickets are for sale right now at www.TicketMaster.com .
Along with Coach David, we have Coach Efrain “El Lobo” Ruiz fighting Roger Krahl from American Top Team. His fight will be in Sarasota on Sept 6. Coach Efrain has tickets for sale! If you are interested, ask Coach Efrain.
On the same weekend, we have THREE FFA fighters duking it out in Costa Rica! We have Shah “Show Stoppa” Bobonis (4-1), Pablo Alfonso (3-1), and Mike “The White crane” Bernhard (3-2)! The fights will be shown LIVE ONLINE for FREE at www.CRfights.com .
Then, the following weekend, we have FFA kickboxing going at it! We have Denis “The Menace” Hernandez (3-1) and Joe Ray (4-0) fighting! Joe Ray, undefeated, will be fighting for the title! The event, “Warriors Collide” will be held in Ft. Lauderdale at the War Memorial on Saturday, Sept 13, starting at 6:30pm. TICKETS ARE ON SALE AT FFA!
Then, the next day, on Sunday, FFA fighter Andrew Moncrieffe is making his pro MMA debut in Dallas, Texas! Good luck to Drew!

FFA WINS AGAIN! 2-0 IN KICKBOXING
August 7, 2008Our team has competed in the past three weekends in a row… and last weekend both of our fighters were victorious – improving our record this past month to 6-1! Last weekend, we had Denis “The Menace” Hernandez and Joe Ray compete in kickboxing at the Warrior’s Collide event in Deerfield Beach.
First up was Joe Ray, who coming into the fight was 4-0. Joe was up against a HUGE opponent, who was undefeated as well going into the fight. From the get-go, Joe landed a huge knee to the body of his opponent, nearly dropping him and earning a standing 8 count. From that point on, Joe systematically dominated his opponent with a barrage of punches, kicks, and knees. Joe landed crippling leg kicks and heavy handed shots to the body and head. Many felt Joe put on the most technical showing of the night, winning by unanimous decision. He improved his record to 5-0 and has earned a title shot in the next show!
Next was Denis “The Menace” Heranndez! Denis was facing off versus former FFA blue belt Alex Caceres from the Young Tigers Gym, a rival team. There was some tension going into the fight, but it paid off for Denis, who nearly dropped Alex in the first round and earned the decision victory. That improved Denis’ record to 4-1!
The FFA kickboxing team is about 20-2 in the past three years! Amazing stuff, congrats to everyone!
